Sleep wasn't something that I spent a lot of time thinking about before having children. I just assumed that, based on what I heard, after my first child it would be years before I had a full nights sleep again.
After having my first boy, these assumptions proved correct. My husband and I soon found ourselves in a nightly battle with a very stubborn little man. This lasted until he was about 5 months old. At this point I was spending about 2 hours of the night in my own bed, and the rest holding my little baby boy who alternated between crying, feeding, and sleeping (but only on me).
I was a wreck mentally, physically, and emotionally. My relationship with my husband was suffering, my patience was dwindling, and I spent most days feeling like exhausted. I knew my life would be different as a parent and mother, but I was unprepared for the complete exhaustion I felt. Something had to change.
That's when I found sleep training. After reading as much as I could on the topic, I found a sleep training method that might work for my determined little boy and decided to give it a try. My husband was skeptical and I was unsure, but after 3 nights I knew I was onto something.
My little boy started sleeping 8, 10, 12 hours a night. He put himself to sleep and stayed asleep all night! I had a happy, well rested little boy, uninterrupted quality time with my husband, and the rest I needed to be a better wife and mother.
This process, and the many conversations I have had with mothers and parents since then, sparked a desire to help other families that are struggling on very little sleep. I became certified through The Cradle Coach Academy, and became a Certified Baby and Toddler Sleep Consultant in order to pursue my passion. Through my certification and this business, I want to remove the assumption I had as a first time mother. I want to find a sleep method and plan that fits every families specific needs, philosophy, and personality.
